Porthdinllaen, Gwynedd

The crew spent 3 days filming in Porth Dinllaen on the Lleyn Peninsula, a 18th century fishing village. It has been preserved by the National Trust since 1994. Porthdinllaen can only be reached on foot - only resident cars are permitted. There are only about two dozen buildings at Porthdinllaen, with the Ty Coch pub the center of the village.

Here they shot the Scottish fishing village scenes. They changed a lot of signs and turned some of the beachfrount houses to small shops. They also shot a scene inside the Ty Coch pub.

Dafydd Griffiths who was an extra on the Porthdinllaen set said ...

"Together with a few friends we were offered some extra work on "Half Light " in September of last year at Porth Dinllaen on the Lleyn Peninsular in North Wales , I think that is was a Wednesday & a Thursday . The first day was a complete washout with only a few scenes filmed weather permitting but the following day was a glorious day and quite a lot of filming was carried out . I remember that security on the set was very strict and we were warned not to carry cameras  or even take pictures using mobile phone cameras . I also noticed that on Thursday there was a lot Red Bull drunk , an indication that there was some heavy drinking the previous night . When not shooting Demi Moore was always deep in conversation with the director and always carried a hot water bottle to keep  her hands warm , not used to the cold and wet weather of North Wales . Some of us were required the following day , but unfortunately I was unable to attend and friends told me at the end of Fridays shooting  a large red van appeared with fish and chips for everyone , not quite sure who paid but whispers were that it was Demi Moore.  Another thing that I remember was that some of us were invited to Ealing Studios for some catch up work because of the poor weather that we had , unfortunately I was flying out to America on that weekend , so was unable to go"

Another extra said .... "I was in the birthday scene outside Ty Coch and also the final scene shot at Porthdinllaen where Demi walks through the bar and out to the back room (which doesn't exist in real life, she ended up outside the back door!)  After the final take she shouted " OK guys - the fish and chips are on me!". The rest of the scene was filmed in London. After shooting Demi sang along as the Bogtrotters played 'Sweet Home Alabama'. A photo of Demi, Craig Rosenberg and the Ty Coch landlady is now up on the wall in the pub."
